DUPLO SYSTEM 4000 RAISES BOOKLETMAKING PRODUCTIVITY TO NEW LEVELS

Mittwoch 12. April 2000 - New finishing solution to ‘realise the potential of print’

With the launch of the new Duplo System 4000 bookletmaking solution at drupa 2000, Duplo International is once again pushing back the boundaries of productivity, bringing levels of sophistication previously only found in other areas of production into the finishing department.

The launch of System 4000 confirms Duplo’s lead in the market and follows the worldwide success enjoyed by Duplo over the past five years with its range of dynamic bookletmakers.

System 4000 can produce up to 4000 booklets per hour, making it the most productive solution on the market. And productivity in the finishing department goes straight to the bottom line, resulting in increased profitability.

The floor-standing System 4000 can incorporate up to six separate collator towers, each consisting of ten bins, to provide a high-volume collating and bookletmaking solution. Each bin has an individual capacity of 60mm, reducing the requirement for reloading during the run and each bin is also fitted with its own air blast and suction system to ensure consistent paper feeding. This speeds up the production process and reduces downtime, resulting in greater efficiency and profitability.

The vertical transport system on the collating towers has been improved, with twin conveyor belts ensuring faster and more consistent paper handling. Such enhancements reflect Duplo’s core competence of paper handling and demonstrate how the company is constantly improving its solutions to the benefit of its customers.

System 4000 can handle a wide variety of paper sizes from 120 x 148 mm up to 350 x 500 mm, and paper stocks from 40 to 300 gsm, making it a highly flexible finishing solution. A unique vacuum channel feeding system means that virtually no adjustment is required when different papers are used. Not only is this feeding system more efficient, but it also allows all operators, even those without specific skills or experience, to utilise the machine to its full capabilities.

All feeding errors – misfeeds, double feeds, empty bins etc – are automatically detected without the need to interrupt production so that productivity can be maintained. System 4000 incorporates a double (left and right) reject tray, a feature designed to maintain the highest levels of productivity.

The sophisticated software of System 4000 allows for all functions to be selected from a central, multi-lingual screen. When machines are being operated on multiple shifts, there is no requirement for reprogramming – the new operators simply take over operation of the machine at its optimum settings, even after it has been switched off. All functions on System 4000 – such as speed, mode, interleaving cover feature etc – can be programmed to provide a fully intelligent and highly efficient bookletmaking system.

For total flexibility, all collator towers within System 4000 can be operated in bi-directional mode; as a result, the machine can always be operated in the most efficient way, even to the extent of handling two entirely different jobs at the same time. The ‘hand marrying’ station, ergonomically located at the entrance to the bookletmaker, has been designed for ease of use so that operators can hand ‘marry’ or hand feed to maintain productivity.

As with all Duplo equipment, System 4000 is a heavy duty solution that provides reliable and consistent production even during constant use. With its new suction belt feeding method and outstanding productivity, System 4000 sets the new standard for bookletmaking production. System 4000 is supported by Duplo’s renowned levels of customer service and after sales support.

Once again Duplo is leading the way to offer the ultimate in high quality, high volume bookletmaking solutions to its customers, providing a profitable system that can truly realise the potential of print.
